How to Prepare for your Boudoir or Intimate Photo Shoot

  • Give your hair the full treatment the morning of the shoot or have it done professionally in the morning if possible. A soft, mobile style that you can flip around is better than a stiff perm.

  • Do your finger and toenails too, the camera loves bright red.

  • False eye lashes can lengthen the look of your eyelashes and create a more sexy and dramatic look, extra eyeliner, deep coloured lipstick

  • Shave or wax all your parts that you might wish to show to the camera, unless you prefer a hairy style.

  • Do not consume alcohol just before arriving to the shoot. During shoot is your choice.

  • Take care of chapped lips.

  • Use hand lotion on your feet for a week before the shoot if you have dry or flaking skin on your feet

  • Nail polish, ideally have them done before shoot

  • Remove any tight garments at least two hours before the shoot. Elastics in clothing can leave marks. Bra straps, jeans, panties, even socks can leave marks on the skin which can be hard to remove with Photoshop. A loose fitting pull-over dress works well.

  • Bring your own makeup. The camera loves bright red lipstick and heavy, evening-style makeup, like what you would wear to go out dancing, but the choice is yours. Don’t forget the mascara. Generally makeup needs to be more pronounced when being photographed then you would normally wear day to day.

  • Bring some of your favorite jewelry. Big flashy costume jewelry works great.

  • Bring something fun (accessories, flower, etc.) to put in your hair

  • Bring a nice dress if you'd like some not-so-naughty photos.

  • Bring cute lingerie, fishnet stockings, full body stockings, garters, gloves, and sexy loose fitting tops that can offer some exposure when needed.  An oversize man's dress shirt is ideal.

  • Assorted high heels (red is great if you have it)

  • If you are planning nude/erotic shoot, keep time of month in mind and plan schedule it

  • If you are planning an erotic shoot, you are welcome to bring your own personal toys.

  • Bring your own music that suits the mood of your shoot.

  • Bring a nice silky robe or cover-up (one you feel sexy in) for breaks in shooting  and setup

  • Bring lots of clothing options with you (better to have too many choices than not enough)

  • Ideally bring solid colour clothing/lingerie. Bold prints and patterns can distract from your beauty

  • Bring sample images of poses and styles you like (if you haven’t already sent them to the photographer, ideally email them to photographer before shoot)

  • We cannot provide alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own

3 DAYS BEFORE THE SHOOT

  • Wax or shave your legs and armpits 3 days prior to a shoot. If you are modeling swimwear or lingerie, be sure you hit the bikini line. This is also the time to be sure your facial hair, eyebrows, etc. is under control. Don’t have your facial hair waxed in the three days prior to your shoot in order to allow for irritation to disappear.

  • Check your hair! If it has been a while since you had a trim, now is the time. Just be sure your hairdresser knows that he/she can’t go too wild this time. If you hair is dry, opt for a deep conditioning treatment. If you colour your hair then get a refresher or have your roots done. Note: Now is NOT the time to try new hair color/style or beauty treatment! If your colour does not come out as planned or your skin breaks out because you reacted to a new cleanser, you won’t look your best!

  • Sleep at least eight hours a night for the three days prior to your shoot and avoid alcohol.

  • Make sure to not spray tan, shows up orange on photos and expensive to remove in photos until after shoot

  • Ideally avoid tan lines where possible until after shoot

2 DAYS BEFORE THE SHOOT

  • Call your photographer. It is VERY important that you call 48 hours prior to the shoot.
  • To confirm the date and time.
  • To ask any last minute questions that you may have.

  • Get your nails done. Don’t forget your toes!

  • Drink plenty of water.

  • Avoid salty foods and alcohol prior to a shoot to reduce puffiness on the day of the shoot.

1 DAY BEFORE THE SHOOT

  • Get plenty of sleep before a shoot. Sleep at least eight hours a night for the three days prior to your shoot and avoid alcohol.

  • Prepare, gather and pack your clothes, lingerie, accessories, makeup, etc. that you are bringing to shoot
